Clarice Roberta Pierson Gilbert, 75, lifelong Hardesty area resident, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

Funeral services were conducted July 28 at 10 a.m. at the Hardesty High School Auditorium with Rev. Herbert Bridgewater pastor of the Hardesty United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Range Cemetery under the care of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon.

Friends were able to call at the funeral home from 3 to 9 p.m. July 26 and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 27.

Walter Eugene Hackley, age 63, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Great Bend, Kansas. He was born April 13, 1947 at Erick, Okla., the son of Oscar Eugene and Ruby Lee (Loftis) Hackley.

Elizabeth “Betty” Smith, age 93, died Monday, July 26, 2010, at the Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the United Methodist Church, Meade, with the Reverend Susan Greene presiding.  According to her request cremation has taken place. 

A second service will take place at Glen Funeral Home, Owensboro, Kentucky, at a later date with inunrnment at Memorial Gardens, Owensboro.

Pat (Worthington) Hoskins, age 77, died Monday, July 26, 2010 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was born February 13, 1933 in Arkansas City, Kan., the daughter of Beryl Maurice and Wilma Madeline (Porter) Waltrip.

M. R. Foresman, age 64, died Monday, July 26, 2010 at the Stanton County Hospital in Johnson, Kansas. He was born June 10, 1946 in Garden City, the son of Robert E. and Helen J. (Bangs) Foresman.

Graveside service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses with Father Tony Judge officiating. There will be no public calling hours.

Vivian Geraldine Wakeman, 99, died late Sunday evening, July 25, 2010, at Halstead Place, Halstead, Kan.

Linda R. Schmaus, 66, Liberal, died Sunday, July 11,  2010
 at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal. She was born March 29, 1944 at Liberal, the daughter of Ralph W. and Ruth Barrett Newport.

Inurnment will be at a later date in Liberal Cemetery. There will 
be no viewing, her body was donated to research at Kansas University;Medical School.

Dr. Robert Sager

Dr. Robert Sager, affectionately known as ‘Dr. Bob’, passed away peacefully at his vacation property on Georgian Bay on Monday, July 5, 2010. He leaves behind his loving wife Lynda and children Ben, Amy and Carrie.

In keeping with Bob’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family disposition of his ashes will be conducted at a later date.

Joye Joan "Nana" Garrison

Joye Joan “Nana” Garrison 87, died Monday, July 5, 2010, at Good Samaritan Society Liberal Center. She was born Jan. 9, 1923 in Hooker, the daughter of James R. and Edna O. (Hecox) Bradford. 

She attended Liberal schools and was a lifetime resident of Liberal. She owned and operated Joye’s Ceramic Shop for over 40 years and was a homemaker. 

On July 21, 1940 she married Kenneth Scott Garrison in Liberal. He died in Oct. 1989. 

Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial was in Liberal Cemetery. 

Visitation time was 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

Floyd Jasper "Hop" Raff

Floyd Jasper "Hop" Raff, longtime Hooker resident, passed away on July 6 at Dunaway Manor in Guymon at the age of 90 years and 7 days.

He was the son of Charles and Gladys Woodward Raff. He was born June 29, 1920 in Durham, Okla. He was the seventh of 12 children. After completing eighth grade, he quit school and went to work to help support his family.

He was united in marriage to Wilma Dean Stanford on August 17, 1942 in Cheyenne, Okla. They made their home in Hooker.

He served in the U.S. Army until his discharge in 1943. He worked for Henry Witt, Skip Skillings, his uncle, Dennis Raff, and the railroad before going to work for Tri-County where he worked for more than 31 years.

In 1966 while working for Tri-County, he was electrocuted and was in-and-out of the hospital for 27 months. After returning to Tri-County, he continued working until his retirement in 1983.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Church of Christ in Hooker with Matt Richardson officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc., in Hooker, Oklahoma. Condolences may be left at www.robertsbrothersfuneralhome.com

Charles E. McDonald passed away on July 4, 2010, at the Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kan. He was born on April 19, 1934 in Garden City to Elbert "Jeff" and Lena Mae Harper McDonald.

Gene W. “Tuney” Weatherman, 83, of Elkhart died July 4, 2010 at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart. He was born May 14, 1927 in Eads, Colo., the son of James Weatherman and Hazel Languein.

Malakye Alan Viegra, 1, passed away June 17 at OU Medical Center Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 5 at Faith Community Chapel in Beaver with Rev. Mark Harness officiating.

Olian Hayes Thompson 24, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, as a result of a car accident near Fowler. Olian was born as son of David O. and Katherine (Kathy) L. Nordling Thompson, March 30, 1986 at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday at First Christian Church in Hugoton, followed by a graveside service at the Hugoton Cemetery. The service will be closed casket and there is no visitation time scheduled.

Harding Capper Nix, 89, Beaumont, Texas and former longtime Stevens County resident, where he lived most of his life, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Harbor Hospice House, Beaumont, Texas.

Spc. Jared Plunk, 27, of Clarksville, Tenn., formerly of Turpin was killed June 25, 2010 when his mounted patrol came under small-arms and rocket-propelled-grenade fire in the Konar province, Afghanistan.

Dr. Jan S. Heidbreder

Dr. Jan S. Heidbreder, 64, of Castle Rock, Colo., died peacefully at his home on Friday, June 25, 2010, after a two-year battle with cancer. Jan was born in Kansas City, Mo., on May 19, 1946 to Walter M. and Elizabeth Heidbreder.

Robert J. Riedel, 79, died Friday afternoon, June 25, 2010, at the Meade District in Meade, Kansas. He was born February 26, 1931, in rural Russell County, Kansas, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Brown) Riedel.  A resident of Plains since 1959, he was the owner and operator of R & R Lease Service, Inc of Plains.

Evain E. Brune, 85, Bucklin, Kan., died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita of injuries sustained in vehicle accident near Kingman, Kan.
He was born November 10, 1924 at Optima, Okla., the son of Oscar W. & Lydia Ruth Gebhard Brune.

Katherine Amanda Saldana, 71, Hugoton, died early Saturday, June 19, at her home in Hugoton. The dautgher of Eliseo and Matilda (Lucero) Romero, she was born May 12, 1939, at Gladstone, N.M. She moved from New Mexico to this area as a young child.

A vigil service was held at 7 p.m. Monday at the church.

Funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday St. Helen Catholic Church, Hugoton.

E. Maxine “Mitzi” Wells, 87, died Friday morning, June 18, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade. She was born Feb. 12, 1923, at Plains, the daughter of Ben and Alta (Batman) Rickers.

Ruby Harper
 
Ruby Harper peacefully completed her earthly journey on May 18.  A longtime Liberal resident, she had resided in Piedmont, Ala., for the past five years.
Born in Osborne, Kan., in 1922 to Joseph and Mildred Wheeler, the family moved to and resided in Scott County for many years.

Ruby married Eugene Harper in 1946.  They moved to Liberal in 1955 where they owned and operated Liberal Bowling Lanes and Ayr Lanes until retiring in 1975.  They raised their family there and many lifelong friends were made during that time.

Survived by daughters Rita Pew (Brooks) of Texas, Sheila Tabb of Hawaii, and Lisa Caldwell (Dee) of Alabama, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by husband, Gene Harper, sons James Scott and Danny Harper, daughters Jody Scott and Linda Hardin and granddaughter Melissa Pew.

A private gathering will take place at a later date.

Frances Faye Ray was born July 15, 1932, at Elk City, Okla., to John and Rachel (Poor) Folks and passed away Wednesday, June 16, at the age of 77 years and 11 months.

George E. Wren, 95, died Friday, June 4, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal. George Eugene Wren was born Feb. 13, 1915, to Clarence A. and Mary Emma (Davis) Wren at Conway, Ark.

Shirley Ann Harmon, 69, died Sunday, June 6, at The Legacy at Park View in Ulysses, Kan. She was born Aug. 3, 1940, in Prowers County, Colo., south of Holly, Colo., the daughter of Lawrence and Alice (McCoy) Reece.

Carole King, 82, of Wellington, Kan., died Saturday, June 5, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and retired after 12 years of working at Main Street Boutique in 1989.

Carole was born the daughter of Willard and Clara (Pennington) Leaming on Saturday, June 25, 1927, in Liberal.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Services for Carole will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the First Christian Church, at 123 West Ninth St., in Wellington, Kan.

Mary Mae Bookstore Osborne

Mary Mae Bookstore Osborn, 99, died Friday, June 4, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart, Kan. She was born Jan. 26, 1911, in Stafford County, Kan., to Harold E. and Dora (Norris) Bookstore.

She graduated from Saint John High School in 1927 and moved with her parents to Morton County, Kan. She married John Osborn Dec. 24, 1933, in Elkhart, Kan. He died Feb. 20, 1953.

Mary was a homemaker, bookkeeper, excellent cook and seamstress. She loved her family, devoting many years to raising children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the delight of her life. She was a member of BPW, Church of God, where she served many years in the nursery. She worked in the ASC office for many years and was a co-owner of Oliver Farm Store.

Mary is survived by one son, Wiley Osborn of Elkhart, Kan.; two daughters, Jonice Osborn Oblander and husband, Bob, of Liberal, Doralou Osborn Burger and husband, Jim, of Mission Viejo, Calif.; grandchildren, Linda Loomis, Alan Osborn and wife, Brenda, Dorinda Brucken and husband, Allen, Tammi LaFond, Dustin Burger and wife, Jen, Julie Mahn and husband, Dustin, Jason Oblander, DeDe Brandt and husband, Chris, and special granddaughter Rhonda Smith; great-grandchildren, Michael LaFond and wife, Brandi, Katie Hill, Zach Loomis, Scott Osborn, Jonathon LaFond and wife, Heather, Andrew LaFond, Laura Osborn, Mathew LaFond, Kael Mahn, Elora Mahn, Derek Burger; great-great-grandchildren, Brandy LaFond, Danae Loomis, Caleb LaFond; sisters-in-law, Pauline Bookstore, Betty Bookstore; and niece and nephews, Pat Morey, Bill Fletcher, and Nick Bookstore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dale Bookstore and John Bookstore; and a sister, Bernice Fletcher.

Patricia Lynn McDonald, 52, resident of Sacramento, Calif., was born in Chicago, Ill., on Nov. 11, 1957. As a young girl, she was a resident of Liberal, where she lived with her grandmother until she moved to California with her sister.

To God's will, Patricia Lynn McDonald departed this life on May 11, after a brief illness. Service was held on Thursday in Sacramento.

Reginald Dean "Reggie" Shank, 59, of Hugoton, died Tuesday at his home in Hugoton. The son of Henry and Julia (Beavers) Shank, he was born July 11, 1950, in Liberal, where he was a lifetime area resident.

Dennis J. Clutter, 52, of Hooker, Okla., passed away May 22 at Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Okla. Dennis was born Sept. 23, 1957, in Liberal, the son of Donald William and Ila Jean Johnson Clutter.

Lenard L. "Cowboy" Johnson, 72, of Tyrone, Okla., died Saturday, May 22, at his home.
He was born Jan. 4, 1938, at Homer, Neb., the son of Howard and Pauline Hansen Johnson.

Fern Grant, 84, of Tyrone, Okla., died Saturday, May 22, at her home. She was born June 17, 1925 in Benjamin, Texas, the daughter of Thomas M. and Verdie B. Bullard Hopkins.

Orville L. Staton, 81, of Sublette, died Sunday evening at Life Care Services in Andover, Kan. The son of Don and Cecil Irene (Roberds) Staton, he was born March 26, 1929, in Winfield, Kan.

Eugene Regier, 77, Turpin, Okla., died Monday, May 24, at 
his  home. He was born Feb. 20, 1933, at the Regier Homestead near 
Turpin, Okla., the son of Henry & Lena Nachtigal Regier.

Thomas Russell Sneath

Thomas Russell Sneath, son of Lloyd Edward and Martha Lou Dingess Sneath, was born Dec. 3, 1956, in Meade, Kan.  He departed this life Tuesday, May 25, in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 53, five months, and 22 days.

Services will be 7 p.m. Thursday in Holman-Howe Chapel in Seymour, Mo., with the Rev. Corey Yates officiating under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home.  A second service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at  the United Methodist Church in Meade with the Rev. Jerry Dean Brummett, 70, a longtime resident of Wamego, Kan., passed away at his home Wednesday, May 12, following a long battle with cancer.

Kenny (Ken) Huckins, 47, of Guymon, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 4, at BSA Hospital, Amarillo, Texas.  Kenny was a family man who loved his community. He was serving as the Guymon mayor and had been on the City Council for many years.

Cynthia A. Angleton

Cynthia (Cindy) A. Angleton was born in Beaver, Okla., on Dec. 28, 1947, to Ira Alexander and Wanita (Knight) Reiswig. A lifelong resident of Beaver, she was a homemaker. Cindy passed away peacefully on Monday, April 19, at the age of 62.

"Jim" James David Smith, 66, of Ulvalde, Texas, former longtime resident of Montezuma, Kan., died early Thursday at Medina Regional Hospital in Hondo, Texas. The son of David and Myrtle Smith, he was born Jan. 6, 1944, in Montezuma.

Marjorie Dirks, 88, of Montezuma, Kan., died early Monday morning, April 19, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City, Kan. The daughter of Jonathan and Fanny (Jantz) Koehn, she was born July 5, 1921, at Sitka, Kan.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today at the Homeland Mennonite Church, Montezuma, Kan. Burial will be in the North Mennonite Cemetery, Montezuma, Kan.

Jeffery R. Yowell

Jeffery R. “Pynaple” Yowell, 60, died Saturday, April 17, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kan. He was born Feb. 3, 1950, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Samuel Jackson and Alice (Toledo) Yowell.

Memorial Service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Faith Tabernacle with Richard Hanson presiding. Cremation has taken place. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Lynn Haller, 69, died Tuesday, April 13. Lynn was born on Dec. 21, 1940, at Mooreland, Okla. He has lived in the area since 1989 after moving from Lipscomb, Texas.

Joye Joan "Nana" Garrison

Joye Joan “Nana” Garrison 87, died Monday, July 5, 2010, at Good Samaritan Society Liberal Center. She was born Jan. 9, 1923 in Hooker, the daughter of James R. and Edna O. (Hecox) Bradford. 

She attended Liberal schools and was a lifetime resident of Liberal. She owned and operated Joye’s Ceramic Shop for over 40 years and was a homemaker. 

On July 21, 1940 she married Kenneth Scott Garrison in Liberal. He died in Oct. 1989.

Floyd Jasper "Hop" Raff

Floyd Jasper "Hop" Raff, longtime Hooker resident, passed away on July 6 at Dunaway Manor in Guymon at the age of 90 years and 7 days.

He was the son of Charles and Gladys Woodward Raff. He was born June 29, 1920 in Durham, Okla. He was the seventh of 12 children. After completing eighth grade, he quit school and went to work to help support his family.

He was united in marriage to Wilma Dean Stanford on August 17, 1942 in Cheyenne, Okla. They made their home in Hooker.

He served in the U.S. Army until his discharge in 1943. He worked for Henry Witt, Skip Skillings, his uncle, Dennis Raff, and the railroad before going to work for Tri-County where he worked for more than 31 years.

In 1966 while working for Tri-County, he was electrocuted and was in-and-out of the hospital for 27 months. After returning to Tri-County, he continued working until his retirement in 1983.

Spc. Jared Plunk, 27, of Clarksville, Tenn., formerly of Turpin was killed June 25, 2010 when his mounted patrol came under small-arms and rocket-propelled-grenade fire in the Konar province, Afghanistan.

Dr. Jan S. Heidbreder, 64, of Castle Rock, Colo., died peacefully at his home on Friday, June 25, 2010, after a two-year battle with cancer. Jan was born in Kansas City, Mo., on May 19, 1946 to Walter M. and Elizabeth Heidbreder.

Robert J. Riedel, 79, died Friday afternoon, June 25, 2010, at the Meade District in Meade, Kansas. He was born February 26, 1931, in rural Russell County, Kansas, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Brown) Riedel.  A resident of Plains since 1959, he was the owner and operator of R & R Lease Service, Inc of Plains. 

Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Monday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Funeral services was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Plains.  Friends were able to call from 9 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Private family inurnment will be in the Plains Cemetery at a later date.

Evain E. Brune, 85, Bucklin, Kan., died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita of injuries sustained in vehicle accident near Kingman, Kan.
He was born November 10, 1924 at Optima, Okla., the son of Oscar W. & Lydia Ruth Gebhard Brune.

Ancel Byron Albright, 75, of Dover,OK. was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Monday June 28, 2010 after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was born in Tyrone on Dec. 5, 1934 to Basel and Velma (Wadley) Albright.

Katherine Amanda Saldana, 71, Hugoton, died early Saturday, June 19, at her home in Hugoton. The dautgher of Eliseo and Matilda (Lucero) Romero, she was born May 12, 1939, at Gladstone, N.M. She moved from New Mexico to this area as a young child.

A vigil service was held at 7 p.m. Monday at the church.

Funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday St. Helen Catholic Church, Hugoton.

E. Maxine "Mitzi" Wells

E. Maxine “Mitzi” Wells, 87, died Friday morning, June 18, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade. She was born Feb. 12, 1923, at Plains, the daughter of Ben and Alta (Batman) Rickers.

Ruby Harper
 
Ruby Harper peacefully completed her earthly journey on May 18.  A longtime Liberal resident, she had resided in Piedmont, Ala., for the past five years.
Born in Osborne, Kan., in 1922 to Joseph and Mildred Wheeler, the family moved to and resided in Scott County for many years.

Ruby married Eugene Harper in 1946.  They moved to Liberal in 1955 where they owned and operated Liberal Bowling Lanes and Ayr Lanes until retiring in 1975.  They raised their family there and many lifelong friends were made during that time.

Survived by daughters Rita Pew (Brooks) of Texas, Sheila Tabb of Hawaii, and Lisa Caldwell (Dee) of Alabama, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by husband, Gene Harper, sons James Scott and Danny Harper, daughters Jody Scott and Linda Hardin and granddaughter Melissa Pew.

A private gathering will take place at a later date.

George P. "Phil" Gillespie, 79, of Moscow, Kan., and former Springer, N.M., resident, died Saturday, at Satanta Long Term Care Unit in Satanta, Kan. The son of George D. and Helen (Whitnell) Gillespie, he was born Dec. 28, 1930, at Springer, N.M.

John Joseph Stan, 82, of Hugoton, Kan., died Sunday, June 6, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hugoton. The son of John and Rene (Archer) Stan, he was born Jan. 17, 1928, at Omaha, Neb.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Paul's Funeral Home Chapel in Hugoton, with the Rev. Harry Cross presiding. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Carole King, 82, of Wellington, Kan., died Saturday, June 5, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and retired after 12 years of working at Main Street Boutique in 1989.

Carole was born the daughter of Willard and Clara (Pennington) Leaming on Saturday, June 25, 1927, in Liberal.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Services for Carole will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the First Christian Church, at 123 West Ninth St., in Wellington, Kan.

Interment will follow at the Sumner Memorial Gardens, Wellington, Kan.

He was born April 9, 1932, in rural Morris County, Kan., the son of David McLean and Audrey (Smith) Campbell.

Mary Mae Bookstore Osborne

Mary Mae Bookstore Osborn, 99, died Friday, June 4, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart, Kan. She was born Jan. 26, 1911, in Stafford County, Kan., to Harold E. and Dora (Norris) Bookstore.

She graduated from Saint John High School in 1927 and moved with her parents to Morton County, Kan. She married John Osborn Dec. 24, 1933, in Elkhart, Kan. He died Feb. 20, 1953.

Mary was a homemaker, bookkeeper, excellent cook and seamstress. She loved her family, devoting many years to raising children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the delight of her life. She was a member of BPW, Church of God, where she served many years in the nursery. She worked in the ASC office for many years and was a co-owner of Oliver Farm Store.

Mary is survived by one son, Wiley Osborn of Elkhart, Kan.; two daughters, Jonice Osborn Oblander and husband, Bob, of Liberal, Doralou Osborn Burger and husband, Jim, of Mission Viejo, Calif.; grandchildren, Linda Loomis, Alan Osborn and wife, Brenda, Dorinda Brucken and husband, Allen, Tammi LaFond, Dustin Burger and wife, Jen, Julie Mahn and husband, Dustin, Jason Oblander, DeDe Brandt and husband, Chris, and special granddaughter Rhonda Smith; great-grandchildren, Michael LaFond and wife, Brandi, Katie Hill, Zach Loomis, Scott Osborn, Jonathon LaFond and wife, Heather, Andrew LaFond, Laura Osborn, Mathew LaFond, Kael Mahn, Elora Mahn, Derek Burger; great-great-grandchildren, Brandy LaFond, Danae Loomis, Caleb LaFond; sisters-in-law, Pauline Bookstore, Betty Bookstore; and niece and nephews, Pat Morey, Bill Fletcher, and Nick Bookstore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dale Bookstore and John Bookstore; and a sister, Bernice Fletcher.

Patricia Lynn McDonald, 52, resident of Sacramento, Calif., was born in Chicago, Ill., on Nov. 11, 1957. As a young girl, she was a resident of Liberal, where she lived with her grandmother until she moved to California with her sister.

Thomas Russell Sneath, son of Lloyd Edward and Martha Lou Dingess Sneath, was born Dec. 3, 1956, in Meade, Kan.  He departed this life Tuesday, May 25, in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 53, five months, and 22 days.

Services will be 7 p.m. Thursday in Holman-Howe Chapel in Seymour, Mo., with the Rev. Corey Yates officiating under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home.  A second service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at  the United Methodist Church in Meade with the Rev. Susan Greene presiding.  Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, and from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the church.  Interment will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.

John Maynard Ullom “Smilin Sam,” 75, died Saturday, May 15, in his home in rural Texas County, Okla. He was born Aug. 18, 1934, in rural Texas County, Okla. the son of John H. and Maureen (LaRue) Ullom.

Matilda M. Prosser, 93, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, at the Ellinwood District Hospital in Ellinwood, Kan. Matilda was born on March 24, 1917, to Alois Birzer and Barbara Probst.

Jerry Dean Brummett, 70, a longtime resident of Wamego, Kan., passed away at his home Wednesday, May 12, following a long battle with cancer.

One of Guymon’s most beloved physicians for more than 53 years, Dr. Robert L. Pracht, 78, passed away Tuesday, May 11. The son of Eula (Harrison) and Louis A. Pracht, he was born and raised in western Kansas.

Kenny (Ken) Huckins, 47, of Guymon, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 4, at BSA Hospital, Amarillo, Texas.  Kenny was a family man who loved his community. He was serving as the Guymon mayor and had been on the City Council for many years.

Helen Stevens, 90, a resident of Hooker, passed away May 4, at Ware Memorial Care Center in Amarillo, Texas.

Cynthia (Cindy) A. Angleton was born in Beaver, Okla., on Dec. 28, 1947, to Ira Alexander and Wanita (Knight) Reiswig. A lifelong resident of Beaver, she was a homemaker. Cindy passed away peacefully on Monday, April 19, at the age of 62.

"Jim" James David Smith, 66, of Ulvalde, Texas, former longtime resident of Montezuma, Kan., died early Thursday at Medina Regional Hospital in Hondo, Texas. The son of David and Myrtle Smith, he was born Jan. 6, 1944, in Montezuma.

Ruth Ann Tanquary

Ruth Ann Tanquary, 67, of Texhoma, passed away Tuesday morning, April 20, at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County.
The daughter of Henry and Lenora (Zwonitzer) Nissen, she was born Dec. 16, 1942, in Bloomfield, Neb. 

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday morning at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Texhoma with Pastor John Wackler officiating.  Interment will follow in the Texhoma Cemetery.  Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

Ruperto Barrientos 

Ruperto Barrientos, 59, Liberal, died Monday, April 19,
at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
   He was born Oct. 9, 1950, at El Consuelo, Durango, Mexico, 
the son of Febronio & Hermini Martinez Barrientos.

Rosary and visitation was at Miller mortuary Tuesday.  Mass of
Christian Burial and interment will be in Juarez, Durango, Mexico,
Saturday.

Erasmo Morales

Erasmo Morales, 76, died Thursday, April 15, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kan. He was born July 2, 1933, in San Pedro, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Fernando Nieto and Macedonia Morales.

Evening services were 7 p.m. Sunday at the Roselane Church of God in Ulysses. Funeral service are 10 a.m. Monday at the Roselane Church of God in Ulysses with Pastor Angel Martinez officiating. Friends were allowed to call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Erasmo Morales Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS, 67880.

Juanita Hough

Graveside service and burial for Juanita Marie Hough, 78, of Enid, formerly of Woodward ,will be officiated by the Rev. Billy Rammage in the Texline Cemetery Texline, Texas, at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 20.
 
Visitation with the family will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Nichols Funeral Home Woodward, Oklahoma.
 
Nita was born Nov. 14, 1931. in East St. Louis, Ill., to Evan and Ruby Hampton and went to be with her lord Saturday, April 17. The family suggests memorials to be made to a charity of choice. 

Aron Holguin Marquez

Aron Holguin Marquez, 4, died Thursday, April 15, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born Feb. 11, 2006, in Liberal, the son of Alfredo and Kattya Cecilia (Marquez) Holguin.

Patricia Louise Banning

Patricia Louise Banning, 79, died Thursday, April 15, at Liberal Good Samaritan Center. She was born April 12, 1931, at Belleville, Kan., the daughter of Eugene Emmett and Katherine (McGinty) McCabe.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with Father James Dieker presiding.  Burial at Tyrone Cemetery in Tyrone, Okla. Bernard L. Cain

Bernard L. Cain passed away Thursday, April 15, one day short of his 94th birthday. Born April 16, 1916, near Tyrone, Okla., the oldest son of eight children, he lived through the worst hard time of the Dust Bowl years.

Mildred Dent

Mildred Madeline Dent passed from this life on Friday, April 16. She was born in Canton, Texas, July 8, 1921. 

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, Liberal, with the family present form 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. to greet friends at the funeral home.

Mildred’s body will be interred at the Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas. The Dent family wishes to thank all who showed such great kindness and compassionate care during her last days.
