What's the basis of the moral decay in Liberal's society? Who's fault is it that our city's losing it's way? Is it the fault of the illegal alien adult male that's guilty of statutory rape of your teenage daughter, your daughter's fault for giving in to someone with a false identity, or your fault for welcoming this predator into your home even though you know little of him and you may even have younger daughters in your home? I say it's the parent's fault for condoning the situation and for taking their family in a negative direction where the American family assimilates into the illegal alien's social traditions, instead of it being the other way around. How many of your neighbors are working very hard to improve their child's lives and then lose them to these predators?

Grew up in Liberal, went into the militay and came back to live but it had changed in four years. Would return to visit family but that are all gone now. Only time I see Liberal are at the Class of 73 reunions. Things change a lot when you only see Liberal once every five years. Some good some not so good. But you go thru life always telling everyone your from Liberal.

I really like the web sight for the paper. There is one suggestion I would like to see. We like to read the paper everyday but somehow on Sunday's you can not read it as it is not up up and running. Then you have to wait tell Monday to read the paper. Is there anywhere you can get it up and running on Sunday's as we are paying for this and don't like to read a day late paper! That is the only concern I have about the web sight.

If you all are going to print the paper three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays then why is it not updated to read it on line. Here it is Thursday @ 11:35 am and the Wednesday's paper is not up yet. Is this going to be a problem with this and who wants to read the paper a day late!! We are paying for this so it should be done in a timely manner.

I am hoping this isn?t the change monsieur Obama is talking about because it reminds me of a first family we have already had to endure for eight painful years.

Are We Ready For An Affirmative Action President? Two people, a black man and a white woman, both members of groups that formerly were (are?) victims of the white man are now saying they are qualified to be President. They still are victims when it is opportune to be, but for the most part, Affirmative Action has worked and America, according to the Democratic Party, is ready to be led by a black man, or a white woman or both. Would they have been able to achieve this lofty goal if it weren?t for Affirmative Action? And who was it that brought Affirmative Action about in the first place? We will never know for sure how qualified either Democrat candidate is because they may not have been as qualified as their peers. Perhaps Barack Hussein Obama was given a hand either with grades or quotas to get through school. Maybe Hillary Clinton needed some kind of boost to break through the glass ceiling that is a barrier to every female trying to get ahead. Were they qualified or were they pushed, cajoled and led by the hand to achieve? Were they victims of their sex and race which would automatically make them qualified for help from the white guys or were they able to rise up in spite of the white man? White guys, Lyndon Johnson, John Kennedy, Richard Nixon, and a litany of others decided to level the playing field with Affirmative Action. President Johnson said; "You do not wipe away the scars of centuries by saying: 'now, you are free to go where you want, do as you desire, and choose the leaders you please.? So does that mean without Affirmative Action, we wouldn?t have the two candidates we have today running in the Democrat Party? And if it was a bunch of white guys who evened things up, doesn?t that mean white guys can take those things away at any time too? Let?s be honest here, the answer is yes. I am not advocating that I am just making a point. The problem is this; perception is reality and therefore, since blacks and women have been portrayed as victims their entire lives, the transition from victim to leader presents a barrier to them in their way to the presidency. Women and blacks and a lot of other minorities were categorized as inferior by some. They were deemed less qualified and therefore less valuable because of what they were. They weren?t judged by the content of their character but by the color of their skin or their sex. Affirmative Action has done nothing to change that. All Affirmative Action did was say that some people were unable to rise up on their own. Affirmative Action may have sped up the process of getting women and minorities involved in business and education but again labeled them as less able or qualified. Italians, Jews, Irish, polish, Germans and a bunch of other nationalities and religions were looked down on and shunned when they first came to America. But those groups gained respect through diligence and hard work. There are people of all minorities and both sexes qualified to be president today, but the truth we dare not speak is this; blacks and women are considered victims in America today and no one wants to be led by a victim.

How do you read all the news on the new web sight that has just recently change. Can not get ot weddings info, births and etc. This new sight is not good at all or explain how to retreive all this information or go back to the old sight it was much better!!!!

I truly dont think most people know who the illegals are, how do you know when you see them? I do know this, there are a large number of families receiving aid, who do not marry and maintain the family unit. Having babies is expensive, and it is strange that they are able to have many children and never pay a dime. The more unusual thing is that I do have knowledge of several families who were married in Mexico, but do not tell this. Married people dont get benefits that are designed to help single parents. Amazing how many of them receive benefits for medical, child care, cash assistance, education, visions cards, and the list goes on. We encourage our own children to marry and nurture the family unit, but unmarried people get all the assistance, what is wrong with this picture?

I hate to say it, really tee tee, but you are right. While the City of Liberal still has good upstanding citizens; It is also quickly being over-run by people who don't care at all about anything, especially this country. I have spent all of my life here or very nearby, and I love it here. Yet still, I am growing closer to the point that I don't want my son to grow up here, because it only seems to get worse. Many people I know feel the same way, some may be afraid to say it, but it is what it is.

It's impossible to keep immigrants out of Liberal, as they help drive the local economy. It is possible, however, to keep illegal immigrants out of Liberal by enforcing existing laws; such as arresting and fining employers. If there's no jobs for illegal aliens, there's no illegal aliens that potentially burden social services. Why try to reinvent the wheel, when we have the solution in our hands? The fact that we don't enforce the law, is what gives illegal aliens the courage to come here, and feel as if they're above the law. Most of them are hard workers, but a few take advantage of our society and consequently impose their will and their culture on our innocent children. Adult males impregnate our teenagers in order to facilitate their applications for legal status. They sell drugs to our teenagers, help import their families illegally, and support the production of false documents which they use to help them gain employment. We need to do two things in order to survive the human wave of illegal immigration. Local employers have to verify document authenticity, and reject ALL false documents immediately. As native Kansans, Americans, and Liberal residents, we all have to insist that our family reject old Macho moral values. We have to insist on American Family values, and not allow our kids and our friends to accept a lifestyle which makes us into what these few, evil and disrespectful people are. Too many of our kids now live this nightmare lifestyle and we allow it. We need to eradicate this type of thinking, and we must insist that anyone that is our friend, neighbor, or work companion must assimmlate to our culture and our family values. As long as we don't enforce American laws, we won't get respect for our laws and for our sons and daughters from evil people of any nationality. Most people want to work hard and improve their family's livelihood. Like rats, the few that live above our law are the ones that do the most economic and moral damage. Ask yourself: Have you fostered the growth of moral decay within your family and accepted a person into your social circle that has violated American laws and your moral values inside your walls? If so, you are as guilty as the person that statutorily raped your kid, invaded your home, and has started to slowly turn your entire family into who they are. Good luck with that! It's our choice, our opportunity, and our responsibility to protect our families, and to rid our community of this small, but destructive group of people.

People that think US citizens do not want the jobs the illegal immigrants have are not tuned in to reality. I know of plenty of US citizens that can't even get jobs because they want to pay an illegal immigrant before a US citizen for the fact they will not have to pay as much. I met a woman from Liberal on a plane who informed me of how the town is 60-70% Hispanic. I gasped in disbelief. She apparently was offended by this and stopped talking to me. What use is the "economy" if the historic white population of Liberal is replaced by Spanish-speaking Hispanics? That is extinction and death of a people and culture. And if you think it's wrong to think of yourself as "white," why do the Hispanics get to think of themselves as a "race" that is triumphantly taking over the U.S.? The website is obviously not being maintained to any degree, my login to see the paper doesn't work. The autherntication subroutine is a merry-go-round, I can't view the paper and I can't even buy an online subscription if I want one due to the endless changing of numbers thing that is going on.

The team may be improving, but whatch out if you ever have a bad year with small players that aren't very good. The coach will be gone before you know it!

I agree, it is an awesome new site. However, I am still upset that there is going to be a charge for viewing this paper online. What is the charge? Someone said it is something like $110.00? Is that correct? WHO IN THE WORLD WOULD PAY $100.00 FOR A PERSCRIPTION FOR A NEWSPAPER? THAT IS CRAZY! There is no way that I can afford to pay that kind of a price for any paper...onine or not! What are you guys thinking? I know there is a lot that must go into putting the paper online. I am sure it is somewhat costly and time consuming, but any charge at all is a strange thing to ask and $100.00 is just down right out of this world! Don't get me wrong, I would love to be able to read the paper online and did before the site change. I do like the new layout and the fact that you can now read the wole paper from front to back online, but if I have to pay to read it online, I just wont read it!

I won't pay the $1 for your newspaper and I won't pay for your website! I don't know of any other online paper that makes you pay to read it! It's so silly to have to pay for this website. I agree that nothing is free. Furthermore, I think that they put an enormous amount of effort into this online paper and that work cannot go unrewarded. I like not worrying about the environmental impact of my daily paper. Still $110.00 a year sounds steep especially when you consider that I signed on late Wed and couldn't access that day's paper. Same thing on Thur.

I grew up in Liberal and frequently read the Liberal online for several years to see what was going on. It's quality was always very poor and very dissappointing. Now that you have something of value you are going to start charging. Unbelievable. At least I can catch up on headlines and the obits. I also read many newspapers online, none of which charge. My local newspaper in Lawrence has put out a quality online version for many years that is exceptional and wins many awards. It doesn't cost. Too bad I will not be able to catch up on my hometown except for the headlines and obituaries. Very dissapointing. Too bad Liberal is not capable of getting support from enough businesses to support the online. Many people check out what is online to determine what a city is like. Too bad people will have to pay to see Liberal. Prospective residents will be turned away. When I lived in Liberal the paper was a strong point. I realized those times changed many years ago. I truly believed when I first seen the new on line SWDtimes it had finally made a step in the right direction. Guess not.

I like the old paper better. You could read the classifieds with out having to pay and like they said they are all messed up. I don't live in Liberal and I don't think the paper is wroth what you charge for it. I won't pay for the online paper either. I just use it to kill time at work.

I'm really disappointed that you now have to pay to see the paper. Most of the major national papers no longer require you to pay for them and the Liberal paper does. It's also confusing - it just charges you $20.00 without giving you any terms or length of the subscription. I no longer live in Liberal and I used to come to this website to keep up with what was going on. Since I refuse to pay the online rate I guess I'm going to have to find some other way to get the news now.

I think it stinks that u have 2 pay for it.... I can read many many papers online for free, yet my local paper wants and arm and a leg, for what? a 10-16 page paper? no thanks

I don't thimnk I care too much for it. The classifieds are all messed up and not all there unless you go threw the whole paper unlike the old one.

I do not understand why one should have to pay for yesterdays news. The old site never had all the classifieds, but neither does the new one. By the way, why arent all responses posted on the site?

It's okay, but I actually liked the old one better because i could find exactly what i was looking for in the classifieds. Also you never charged for the old one. I don't get the paper because it was pointless money wise for what you would get from day to day.

I live in Amarillo Texas now but really enjoy reading your paper online, I like the new improved site. I think you could add a site for all the graduates of LHS so when it comes times for reunions we could find out about them or add www.graduates.com its a free site ...thanks Patsy Hall-Shuster

It still has a few kinks to work out so will make a decision later. I think all web sites should not charge to read there paper. I have cancelled quite a few papers because of the on line status. Which is the popular thing now days.

The new site looks great! Once I figured out how to use it I am really enjoying it. I do not like the fact that you are going to charge for the paper online! I quit taking the paper because it was expensive for what little news it had in it. I do enjoy reading it however, and love to read online. I also wonder about the code you have to enter. My trial period was not up yet as of yesterday and I couldn't read the paper because I had to put in a code that was supposed to be sent to my email address...there has been no code sent to my address, even after I requested a code. The new paper is great..just get the bugs out and DON'T CHARGE!
