Saturday night was all about the employees of Good Samaritan Society of Liberal.

The evening was dedicated to honor 25 members of the Good Samaritan staff for their long-time commitment and service to the senior care facility.

Danna Legleiter, administrator of Good Samaritan said there has never been a reception to honor employees before. Employees, she said, are hard working, dedicated and well-deserving of recognition.

"I wanted to make sure we honored them,” said Legleiter. "There had never been a reception or anything for the employees before."

Of those honored Saturday were 20 employees for service of 10 years or more and five employees for dedication between five and nine years. Good Samaritan has a staff of 70 currently.

Employees enjoyed a catered dinner, had professional photos taken by Dorris Jack Photography for an employee hall of fame display, and each of the employees were called upon by Legleiter to receive a plaque or certificate marking their service to Good Samaritan.

"I really wanted to reward the staff,” said Legleiter. “It has been a rough year for nursing homes. We have dealt with change in healthcare, cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, and a bed tax. I wanted to say thank you to their dedication and hard work.”

Eight-years of service to Good Samaritan employee Vicki Love said she would be there many more years.

"What I like best is the people,” said Love.

Each employee was asked to bring one guest to the event.

"We have two employees that have been here for over 30 years,” said Legleiter. “They were working here prior to the facilities becoming the Good Samaritan Society. Longevity in long term care is often hard to find. We are lucky to have that here.”
